Our People

Owner Grant Gislason began building cedar hot tubs in 1978 under CanWest National Cooperage and his retail arm Vintage Hot Tubs. Since those fledgling days, of both Vintage and the hot tub industry, Grant has grown and diversified Vintage to include pool supplies and maintenance, high-end patio furniture , and billiards, cues, fooseball tables and darts. Co-owner John Smith joined the company in 2004. With 33 years experience with the Victoria Police Department, he brings with him, leadership, organization, and a strong community based background.

With 2 stores to serve you, downtown and in Langford (behind Home Depot), we now have 14 people on staff. In Langford at our Jacuzzi Store you will meet Dean Christy, with 30 years Spa Sales and Service re-joining the team after a nine year absence while he worked with Jacuzzi/Sundance Spas, Maax Spas, BioGuard Water Care Products, and The Greater Victoria Economic Development Commission. At our Downtown store (Sundance Spas) come in and speak with Drew Christy also a hot tub veteran of 30 plus years. Drew and Dean started Cannibal Tubs specializing in redwood and cedar tubs (one of the first in BC) way back in 1978 (we think they were 9 and 11 years old respectively) and have been with the industry every innovative step of the way. Drew and Dean first worked with Grant Gislason in 1980 as one of Grant's first CanWest National Cooperage dealers. The long association between these three Hot Tub Pioneers (together representing almost 100 years of industry experience) is just one more of the pieces that makes Vintage the best place to shop for your new Hot Tub.

For those wondering where Alice is these days, she has gone back to school to become the next Kathyrn Bigelow...Watch for her at the Oscars (maybe 2012?) If you miss this water wizzard, you can still find her Saturdays at the Downtown Vintage Store.
